What are the requirements to obtain SRA membership?

To pursue SRA designation, a candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution and complete the following tasks within three years or less:

  • Provide proof of current USPAP completion certificate
  • Complete the Appraisal Institute® Business Practices and Ethics course
  • Pass the Residential Equivalency Exam or an approved alternative exam
  • Pass the Residential Market Analysis and Highest and Best Use exam or the General Appraiser Market Analysis and Highest and Best Use exam
  • Pass the Real Estate Finance, Statistics, Valuation Modeling exam
  • Attend the Advanced Residential Applications and Case Studies/Part 1 course and pass the exam
  • Fulfill the Residential Demonstration of Knowledge requirement
  • Complete 3,000 hours of residential appraisal work within 24 months
  • Submit a final SRA membership application
